How long does it take to move on?

In movies you always see a heart broken girl laying on the couch with a tub of ice cream watching a romantic movie and bawling her eyes out. The end of the movie is always a happy ending where the girl and the guy work things out and continue their relationship. There's rarely any movies where the girl moves on to the next person, so how long does it take to move on? Some people can move on very fast, especially if they had no emotional ties to the relationship. For me it depends on how long I've been in the relationship, the longer that I'm in a relationship the harder it is for me to get over someone. My cousin says that for every year you give yourself two days to get over the person, if it wasn't a year you give yourself a day. I also went onto my Instagram to ask my followers and friends how long it takes to move on and most of them said that getting over someone depended on how long you've been together and how willing you were to move on. This however, is different from a very unhealthy relationship, once someone has their mind set on leaving there's no turning back and it's harder for them to get into another relationship because of the damage from the old relationship not because they are still stuck on their ex.
